  1. 2017MOTM

Just 3 weeks to go until the fifth annual March of the Mermaids takes place, on Saturday 15 July 2017!

Please note that the parade will set off at 3pm from Hove Lawns (closest to the Peace Statue), but you can gather on Hove Lawns any time from midday where Surfers Against Sewage will be set up with lots of activities for you to get involved with.

Pier 2 Pier Beach Clean have also organised a Mermaid Beach Clean! If you'd like to take part in the beach clean before the parade, meet the Pier 2 Pier team at the Palace Pier from 12.30, find out more here: www.facebook.com/events/1427623233970398/

The parade will end at approx. 4pm at our joint after-party venues on Brighton Beach, the Fortune of war and The Tempest Inn. As usual we'll have plenty of music until the wee hours to keep our fins flippin', thanks to the lovely Sophisticated Mischief gents and the Disco Lovers.

This year we won't be charging a ticket price to take part in the parade or to admit entry to our after-party, but we would appreciate if all participants could give a suggested donation of £3. All profit raised will be donated to Surfers Against Sewage.

    Please donate here:

On Saturday 15th July the fifth annual March of the Mermaids will invade the shores of Brighton and Hove!! The march aims to raise awareness of marine conservation and environmental issues as well as support related campaigns, charities and community groups.

Right before the march Pier 2 Pier Brighton have organised the MERMAID BEACH CLEAN! So bring a bag, don your best shell bra and help us remove trash from our beautiful beach. The scaly folk in the sea will thank you!

We'll start our clean at 12.30 from Palace Pier to West Pier. When we're finished we can head over to Hove Lawns (next to the Peace Statue) where everyone will gather to take part in the March of the Mermaids parade, Surfers Against Sewage in Brighton, Hove and Shoreham will also have a load of fun activities for you to flip your fins at before the parade begins (see below)! The parade will commence at 3pm from Hove Lawns, ending at The Fortune of War and Tempest Inn where the March of the Mermaids after-party will take place from 4pm until late.

Check out the offical March of the Mermaids 2017 event page for more details and click attending. Note: this event is not just for mermaids - mermen, sea mammals, crustaceans, pirates, sailors, and all forms of sea life are invited to take part!

  3. Aloha mermates! We are busy putting together the plans for March of the Mermaids 2017, we can't wait to see you all again this summer!

We'll be posting lots more updates real soon, but in the meantime, please remember to join our event page if you plan to attend, and make sure to invite fellow merfolk, shipmates and seafaring folk!
Remember that our event is family friendly and open to all!

March of the Mermaids will be taking a break in 2018, so all the more reason to make this year really awesome! All profit on the day will be donated to Surfers Against Sewage. There is no charge to take part in the parade this year, or for entry in to our after-party at joint venues the Fortune of war and The Tempest Inn, so we will be relying heavily on generous donations on the day and in advance.

If you plan to attend we would appreciate any advance donations (suggested £3, but any more would be wonderful!) through our Paypal Donate account, we first need to cover costs of Public Liability Insurance to ensure the parade can go ahead safely! Please donate what you can by clicking on the Paypal Donate button on this page: www.facebook.com/mermaids.march/app/190322544333196/

    Best fishes!
